About

A new way to go Off The Grid!

At Jungle Retreat Wayanad, you don’t just get “jungle vibes”. You get the jungle itself — raw, untamed, and right outside your balcony.

Forget cookie-cutter rooms lined up in rows. Here, you choose between a treehouse perched 20 feet high or a glass cottage where your bed faces the forest and waterhole. You’re not watching nature through a pane of glass — you’re living inside it.

One moment, you’re spotting elephants and deer sipping quietly under moonlight. The next, you’re waking to mist, birdsong, and air so clean it feels like breathing for the first time - AQI numbers you can count on your fingertips!

Days here stretch into slow safaris, birdwatching walks, and campfires by jungle streams. Nights bring stories — of elephants, leopards, and the lore of the forest. This isn’t entertainment. It’s immersion.

And let us be clear:
This is not a party place.
This is not for loud music or curated chaos.
It’s for those who want to soak in silence, breathe with the forest, and find people who value that same rhythm.

You’re not entering a resort. You’re stepping into a living ecosystem that runs on its own rules. Respect them — the jungle was here first

Details

Watchtower Experience
From the jungle retreat’s watchtower, you look directly onto meadows and waterholes where wildlife gathers daily. Elephants, deer, gaur, and sometimes even predators appear without warning. Hours may pass in silence, broken only by bird calls — but patience here is rewarded with unforgettable sightings. This is not an add‑on. It’s part of living inside an ecosystem and comes at no additional charge.

Night Drive and Campfire by the Kalindi River
At around 7 PM, you head into deep forest roads where animals cross freely. This isn’t a staged safari — it’s a dive in the raw jungle. You ride with an experienced guide and a local tribal elder who knows these forests from life, not maps. The drive ends by the Kalindi river, where a campfire and open-fire cooking by the water await. By 9:30 PM, you’re back at the retreat, carrying the silence of the forest and the local lores with you.
Cost: ₹1,500 per person

Wildlife Safari at Muthanga Jeep Safari (Kerala)
With Karnataka banning safaris in November 2025, this 3 hour safari in the wild heart of Wayanad is one of few available close to Bengaluru. The safari takes you into forest zones where elephants, gaur, deer, and even big cats move freely. You’re not chasing sightings; you’re entering their world on their terms so be patient as the forest shows itself when it chooses.
Bookings available only directly through the government website.

Jungle Awareness Trek
A 3km guided trek (~90 minutes) in the jungle inside the 50 acre estate. You learn to read tracks, listen to calls, notice plants and insects, and see how everything connects. It’s not rushed. It’s not staged. It’s about attention and truly listening.
Cost is ₹1,000 per person.

Birding
Wayanad is home to 350+ bird species, and nearly 100 can be spotted within the retreat itself. Walk through grasslands, waterholes, fruiting trees, and forest patches. Depending on the season, you might see hornbills, kingfishers, woodpeckers, parakeets, barbets, and more.
Guided and chargeable at ₹1,500 per person.

Wilderness Camping Experience
You are taken to the northernmost and most remote part of the estate for an overnight stay. You sleep in hammocks or sleeping bags with very minimal setup. You collect firewood, purify water, cook your own food on an open fire and spend the night deep inside the forest. A trained naturalist and a local tribal elder stay with the group for safety and guidance. This is meant to feel raw, quiet and far from everything.
Cost is ₹2,000 per person.

Birding & Night Sky Workshops
Half‑day birding immersions or guided astronomy sessions are available on demand. Reach out to us for details and curated plans.

Tree Houses
Four tree houses are tucked deep inside the estate, away from the main resort area, giving you privacy and a true sense of being in the jungle. Raised 20 feet off the ground, each tree house is spacious, with a double bed and a single bed for up to three adults. You get a covered balcony, an open balcony, a large airy bedroom opening into the jungle, and a bathroom with running water. Solar-powered electricity lets you charge phones and cameras, but please note that high-wattage devices aren’t supported. Wildlife is visible right from your tree house, so silence is key. A caretaker is always on hand for any needs.

Cottages
Cottages face the meadows and waterholes that animals frequent, giving excellent chances to spot wildlife from your private balcony. Each cottage has one bedroom, one bathroom, and a private balcony, comfortably sleeping up to three guests.

Glass Cottage – The most luxurious option, with a floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the bedroom for uninterrupted views of the meadows and waterhole. Modern bathroom and balcony facing wildlife.

Jungle Cottage – Great views of the meadows and waterhole from the balcony, with modern bathroom and private balcony.

Standard Cottage – Cozy and affordable, with a large balcony overlooking teak forest and partial meadow views, plus bedroom and bathroom.

Villas
The two-bedroom twin villas are the largest accommodations in the retreat. Each villa has two bedrooms, two fully equipped bathrooms, and two large balconies. Each bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, comfortably sleeping 2–3 adults. The balconies face the jungle and offer partial views of the teak forest or meadows, blending privacy with connection to the surroundings.

Everything on the table is kept simple. Proper Kerala home-style cooking mixed with the familiar Indian staples everyone eats without thinking. One meal might be fish fry and pulliserry with some good ol’ mata rice, and the next might be rotis with sabji or a homemade masala dosa that tastes like mum made it.

Most of the ingredients are sourced locally, so everything feels fresh and rooted to the land. Before your stay, they simply ask your food preferences  and plan the menu around that — nothing fancy, nothing complicated, just honest, comfort food.

Breakfast is included in your package. All other meals together are priced at ₹1,000 and can be added after your booking.
